| Routine: 4 weeks; preliminary report at 1 week, or when a fungus is isolated. | |||
| Collection Information: | Refer to Microbiology Collection Information by Source. | ||
| Transport Information: | Deliver to lab immediately at room temperature. All specimens must be signed into the laboratory. | ||
| Reference Client: | If unable to deliver to lab immediately, store and transport at room temperature. Do NOT refrigerate. Specimen must be received in lab within 24 hours. | ||
| Causes for Rejection: | Improperly labeled, incorrect container, contaminated, insufficient quantity, improper/delay in transport. | ||
| Reference Range: | No fungi isolated | ||
| Additional Information: | Fungal susceptibilities are performed by request only and the test is sent to an outside reference lab. The order must be placed in the computer. Notify the microbiology lab at 984-2358 in order to prepare the isolate for referral. | ||
